Hope Channel Southern Mindanao Reinvents, Inaugurates New Studio
The productive Hope Channel Southern Mindanao (HCSM) studio in General Santos City remodeled its structure and ambiance. It was formally inaugurated on November 21 at Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM) Compound to improve its aesthetic and space and thus increase its capacity to present Jesus through powerful digital evangelism.
The facility moved from a confined area in a large prayer room of the main mission building to the ground floor of the Adventist Convention and Media Center (ACMC). This new location can accommodate a larger audience and provide more space for technical staff, which consists of one regular employee and 15 media missionaries. Pr Elmer Romano, the Communication Director, leads this team’s management.
The building and the studio house several meeting chambers and convention venues for various gatherings and events. Thus, Hope Channel on the ground floor and Adventist World Radio (AWR) can broadcast programs and activities, sharing the message with the communities in the territory and beyond.
Attending this milestone celebration were SMM administrators led by its president, Elder Nildo Mamac, with Pr Enrile Yata, Executive Secretary, and Elder Aldrin Heramil, Treasurer.
“We should make efforts to call together large congregations to hear the words of the gospel minister. And those who preach the Word of the Lord should speak the truth.” Evangelism 119:1. This light shows that evangelism through social media and other platforms could reach a wider audience than any medium. It is the most efficient way to fulfill the commission in Matthew 24:14: “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.”
In his keynote inauguration message, Elder Rhoen Shane Peralta Catolico, the Communication, Media, Public Affairs, and Religious Liberty Director of the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), revisited Nehemiah 12. He reflected on how Nehemiah led the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall. The project’s completion was celebrated with a large choir that marched around the walls, praising God. People offered sacrifices, rejoiced, and celebrated with musical instruments to honor God.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the SMM leadership, ministry partners, and media missionaries. He stated, “Always remember those who came before us and the sacrifices they made for this ministry. However, sacrifices are needed now more than ever! In a modern media ministry, these sacrifices may involve time, talent, energy, and sometimes personal comfort or resources.”
The media missionaries and ministry partners who willingly share their personal sacrifices offer time, talent, and comfort to amplify the story of Jesus and those governed by His love and salvation.
Pr. Joel Bagonoc led the reading of the litany, asking that the ministry become a beacon of faith, love, and salvation for the world. He prayed for the studio to serve as a sanctuary of creativity and service, reflecting God’s light and truth. Every program created should convey hope, healing, and love. The presenters, anchors, and storytellers are encouraged to embody wisdom, clarity, and a spirit of compassion. The producers, directors, and visionaries are tasked with creating content that uplifts and transforms, while the technicians and support staff, blessed with skill and dedication, will strive for excellence in their work. Most importantly, our global audience will have their hearts touched and be drawn closer to God.
Hope Channel Southern Mindanao missionaries and SMM administrative secretaries performed musical renditions during a victorious day. Most importantly, the sacrifices paid off with the rebuilding of this media production studio in Mindanao.
Sir Carlo Lagra, the Manager of HCSM, became emotional as he shared the institution’s humble beginnings. “HCSM is a testament to the fact that God works miracles, as evidenced by numerous conversion stories and the growing number of impressive cameras and facilities,” he stated.
“The heaven-appointed purpose of giving the gospel to the world in this generation is the noblest that can appeal to any human being. It opens a field of effort to everyone whose heart Christ has touched.” Education, 262
