Let’s Pray Pilipinas Marks a Decade of Faith, Prayer, and Service
Let’s Pray Pilipinas (LPP), the Adventist online live prayer program aired across seven Hope Channel stations in the Philippines, celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Adventist Convention and Media Center (ACMC) of Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM) from November 27 to 30.
The program started as “Let’s Pray Cagayan,” produced by Hope Channel South Philippines in Cagayan de Oro City. It featured live lectures, inspiring stories, and opportunities for prayer requests. The program was later rebranded as “Let’s Pray Pilipinas” to reflect its nationwide reach. It involves Hope Channel stations and studios nationwide in a collaborative rotation of daily episodes and is broadcast on GSat Channel 37.
A Gathering of Mission-Driven Creators
The anniversary event brought together 130 media missionaries, including producers, directors, hosts, scriptwriters, presenters, and technical teams. All attendees were united by a shared mission: to create content that uplifts and transforms lives. The celebration emphasized collaboration and a commitment to excellence, with participants pledging to make each broadcast a beacon of hope, healing, and love.
During the “Meet and Greet Ceremony,” Pastor Roxie Joy Pido, the Communication Director of the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC), shared a devotional message that highlighted the program’s mission. He said, “Let’s Pray Pilipinas is a program where you don’t have to pray alone. Like the parable of the loaves and fishes (John 6:5), this program demonstrates that prayer can dissolve biases and prejudices, helping people encounter God and learn about the Seventh-day Adventist Church.”
Community Impact Through Service
A medical mission was conducted on the second day, benefiting 123 individuals. The services provided included medical check-ups, minor surgeries, dental care, legal assistance, counseling, and the distribution of free eyeglasses and medications, along with Adventist literature. The program received support from local government officials, including General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao. Her Adventist Executive Assistant, Atty. Nikki Kristine Catolico welcomed the attendees. Additionally, Adventist lawyers offered free legal consultations during the mission.
Delegates from Across the Philippines
Ms. Ivan Mae Acob-Flores, Executive Producer of Let’s Pray Pilipinas, headed the 10th-year celebration. Pastor Sherman Fiedacan, President of Hope Channel Philippines, and his Office Manager, Dr. Cesar An, were present at this annual celebration along with hosts and production staff of LPP from various Hope Channel stations and studios actively participated, including hosts and production staff from the Hope Channel Stations and studios: HC South Philippines, DXGC-TV 25; HC Visayas, DYGA-DTV 25; HC Bacolod, DYGB-TV 25. Other studios producing the LPP are HC North Philippines, HC Southern Mindanao, HC Western Visayas, and HC Dumaguete.
Hope Channel Southern Mindanao, this year’s celebration host, extended its full support led by the SMM administration and Pr. Elmer Romano, Communication Director and HCSM Studio manager.
Sabbath Celebration and Baptism
The Sabbath celebration at the General Santos City Central Adventist Church featured a lively discussion about the power of prayer, with contributions from Hope Channel leaders and communicators from across the country. Pastor Sherman Fiedacan, president of the Hope Channel Philippines, emphasized “Hope Amid Afflictions: Trusting God’s Justice” in his Hour of Worship message.
The weekend’s highlight was the baptism of 71 individuals at Aqua Tierra Pools. These new members resulted from simultaneous evangelistic efforts by SMM administrators and junior pastors at three mission sites.
Continuing the Mission
A Friday afternoon consultative meeting with the Communication directors, station, and studio managers saw the need to accommodate more Hope Channel studios to fill in new evening timeslots starting January 2025. The latest additional schedule for LPP will be 8:30-9:00 from Mondays to Thursdays!
Initially, the HC Central Visayas studio will be scheduled every Tuesday night; after a year’s break, HC Davao, DXGD-TV 25, will return to LPP every Wednesday night. HC Northern Davao will take over every Thursday night.
The new evening schedule will eventually augment the morning productions of the Hope Channel Philippines’ flagship program, Let’s Pray Pilipinas!, which is produced by the following stations and studios: Hope Channel Dumaguete (Sundays); HC Bacolod (Mondays); HC Southern Mindanao (Tuesdays); HC South Philippines (Wednesdays); HC Western Visayas (Thursdays); HC North Philippines (Fridays); and HC Visayas (Saturdays).
As the weekend concluded with a Thanksgiving and commitment ceremony, attendees reflected on the legacy of Let’s Pray Pilipinas. Throughout its challenges and successes, the program has remained a platform for sharing talents, inspiring hope, and fostering deeper connections with God.
The gathering reaffirmed its commitment, quoting Ellen White: “Not one sincere prayer is lost. Amidst the anthems of celestial choirs, God hears the cries of the weakest human being” (Steps to Christ, p. 100).
Let’s Pray Pilipinas remains steadfast in its mission, demonstrating that prayer is a powerful force for unity and transformation. (Dan Florante Callo/SePUM Communication)
