61 Registered Delegates from SePUM Join the SSD Master Guide Convention in Malaysia
Under the leadership of Pastor Nelo Seda, Youth Director of Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), a group of youth directors from the five local missions, church-based and school-level pathfinder directors, flew to Malaysia for the Southern Asia-Pacific Master Guide Convention 2024.
The SePUM delegates were composed of MGs from the Davao Mission, Northern Davao Mission, South Central Mindanao Mission, Southeastern Caraga Mission, and Southern Mindanao Mission.
The contingents joined from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, and three other unions of the Philippines.
Purposely, this gathering of well-trained leaders who are tasked with carrying out the church’s highly organized worldwide scouting program will also pave the way to the success of the SSD-Wide Pathfinder Camporee 2025 at Mountain View College on February 23 – March 2, with a similar theme: “Rebuild the Altar.”
The Master Guide and the Pathfinder program have set nine specific objectives to guide their mission. These include leading all Pathfinders to a saving grace with Jesus, rebuilding the altar of each participant amid the great challenge of their time, gaining honors on spiritual growth, outreach, and heritage, exploring and role-playing the life of Elijah, and ensuring that every delegate feels loved and cared for. The program also aims to create joyful memories, teach new skills, foster new international friendships, and instill a sense of global community. Additionally, the program seeks to present the Pathfinder history and bible experience and to strengthen the parent-child experience specified in Malachi 4:5.
Pr. Ron Genebago, SSD Youth Director, had so much compassion for the youth and is always seeking avenues to strengthen the stand of our youth. He believes in the clarity of Paul’s advice to Timothy: “Let no one despise you for your youth but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12
Please pay close attention to this: “Young men and young women gather knowledge. Do not wait until some human examination pronounces you competent to work; but go out into the highways and hedges, and begin to work for God. Use wisely the knowledge you have. Exercise your ability with faithfulness, generously imparting the light that God gives you. Study how best to give to others light, and peace, and truth, and the many other rich blessings of heaven. Constantly improve. Keep reaching higher and still higher. It is the ability to put to the test the powers of mind and body, ever keeping eternal realities in view, that is of value now. Seek the Lord most earnestly, that you may become more and more refined, more spiritually cultured. Then you will have the very best diploma that any one can have,—the indorsement of God.” Mrs. Ellen G. White, The Youth Instructor, March 3, 1908, par 6. (SePUM Communication)
