Adams Church Features CBI Orchestra and Choir for Mothers’ Day Celebration

To honor the virtuous women in the family called mothers, Adams Central Seventh-day Adventist Church of Palm Drive, Bajada, Davao City, features Central Bukidnon Institute Orchestra and Choir from Bagontaas, Valencia City as Mothers’ Day Concert performers on May 11 Sabbath being sponsored by the Family Ministries Department.

Central Bukidnon Institute Inc. is an Adventist layman’s school operated by the Bulahan family in 1968 to fill the need for a high school education in Bagontaas, Valencia, Bukidnon. Since its existence, Adventist music has been reverberating within and outside its campus. With the help of teachers and administrators who love music and use the ministry to inspire people, they established the ensemble in 2012. Since then, CBI has been the home of harmonious choral music and instrumentalists performing as an orchestra, either separately as strings or as a group of brass and woodwind, incorporating percussion like drums and cymbals.

On special occasions like this Mothers’ Day Concert in the urban city of Davao, the three musical groups became philharmonic when, at peak times, the choir raised their voices amid a grand tapestry of instruments. The group has traveled to many cities in the country and shared their music with Thailand, Hongkong, Korea, Japan, and other places where God’s calling will lead them.

The 65-man delegation was led by their School Director, Mr. Jim Bulahan, who wanted to continue the legacy of his family to train God-fearing and talented youth, with their Principal Mrs. Dreamy Pangca, Orchestra Director Mr. Jiles Howard Nogra, Pianist and Choir Director Sir Dominique L. Yaňez, with the special participation of saxophonist and CBI alumnus, Dr. Jove Evranson Lumawag, D.M.D.

Why this grand presentation on Mother’s Day? The Home and Family Life Ministries department of the church believes that the sacrifices of mothers could never be repaid by anything but at least allow them to experience classical music at its best. Thank you to Sister Merry Joy Estocado for the initiative and thrust, along with these mother-loving mothers, Dr. Flordeliz Magdayao, Dr. Joy Estocada, GHH Core Group, Mr. & Mrs. Danilo Manlangit, and the brethren of Adams.

CBI Ensemble’s favorite verse is 1 Peter 4:10, that we should also love: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Let me conclude by citing a message from one of the most spiritually gifted women, Mrs. Ellen White, who wrote: “God calls for talents of influence and of means. Shall we refuse to obey? Our heavenly Father bestows gifts and solicits a portion back that He may test us whether we are worthy to have the gift of everlasting life.” — Testimony Treasures, vol. 1, p. 389 (SePUM Communication/Photos by Jim Bulahan and DFV Callo)
