Family for Eternity series Adds 78 to Adventist Church Membership

78 souls submitted themselves to Jesus through baptism as a result of the “Prepare Families for Eternity” Evangelistic Series conducted by Mrs. Lindy Lou S. Magdadaro, Women’s and Family Life Ministries Director of the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), at Libuak, Rosario, Agusan del Sur, from May 5 to 11.

Mrs. Luzijun Lantaya, Women’s and Family Life Ministries Director and President’s spouse of Northeastern Caraga Mission, along with the women leaders in the district, joyfully worked hand in hand with all the church members in visiting families and inviting them to the nightly lectures.

Mr. & Mrs. Denny, Daisy Sasil, and other generous congregation members prepared groceries, gift items, and other valuable goodies as tokens and prizes for trivia questions.

Three days before Sabbath came 14 happy souls waiting for baptism. As Magdadaro and Lantaya were appealing for baptism on Friday evening, the Sabbath vespers, 55 individuals, submitted for baptism, and most of them had no extra dry clothes to shield their chilling bodies against the strong winds and rain. Incidentally, the Sasil family has bought the most appropriate gift, the long, large, wrap-around tubular garment that can sometimes serve as a blanket. Indeed, ingenuity answered the need.

The Sabbath was filled with cravings for more spiritual food, and it was offered by women leaders and their District Pastor, Reneboy Inato, and the President of Southeastern Caraga Mission himself, Pastor Jemsley Lantaya, whose hands-on supervision and support kept the momentum high. Talented performers and singing groups answered their longing for songs. At the end of the Sabbath morning, nine more souls entered the baptistry to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour.

Women empowerment is needed in society, and Mrs. Ellen G. White, as one of the pillars of our faith, affirmed: “The refining, softening influence of Christian women is needed in the great work of preaching the truth.” (Review and Herald, Jan. 2, 1879) (SePUM Communication)
