SePUM Convenes ASI Officers from 5 Missions
With the aim of effectively “sharing Christ in the workplace” in these unusual times, Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM) gathers at Davao Mission Conference Hall, Davao City on the beautiful Sabbath of May 11, all the Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries, Inc. (ASI) Coordinators and officers from five missions under SePUM in this 2024 ASI Officers Convention, to strengthen the organization after the bifurcation into two unions.
Pr. Danielo Palomares, SePUM President, welcomes all delegates with glee and highlights ASI’s contribution via outreach projects, fundraising campaigns for evangelism, scholarship grants, church building, health services, and other activities that draw people nearer to Jesus and share the ministry of Jesus even to the most elite citizens in the urban and rural communities. The real purpose of blending ASI objectives with the church’s mission is soul-winning, out of faithful entrepreneurs turned God’s mouthpieces and workers of God.
Pr. Raul Emnace, Sabbath School Director and ASI Coordinator of SePUM, expressed his gratitude to the causes of ASI for the welfare of the people they serve, to glorify God, and to encourage people to Invest in Eternity: Called, Consecrated, Committed, as the theme inspires. This event is to empower Adventist business people and professionals to use their varied talents, communicable influence, and bountiful resources to boost the collaboration of God’s ambassadors in reaching the elite constituents of our society.
Present during this Sabbath gathering was Bro. Jonathan Lamorin, ASI President of the Southern Asia Pacific Division (SSD), an 11-country headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, emphasized during the Hour of Worship the importance of structuring the organization according to God’s plan to carry out the vast mission of bringing Christ to the business, executive and political sectors of the economy -driven world.
As a former Adventist pastor who presently owns two companies, he enumerated all the chaos happening in Israel and its neighboring territories, the destructive floods in Dubai and Wandung, China, the escalating economic and infrastructural damage in Russia and Ukraine, the disastrous monsoon season, typhoons, intense rainfall, earthquakes and other calamities battering many countries. Many people consider these as mere results of climate change or cultural differences.
Adventist laymen and industry-involved influencers should analyze these events as a time to “cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days, you will find it again.” Ecclesiastes 11:1.
Since waters symbolize people and bread is the words of God, we must be like Nehemiah and Ezra, who will be partners to make more significant, more profound, more comprehensive projects leading to winning souls. When we reach out with love and quietly lead by example, we can leave a powerful and lasting impression on others.
When we bring our businesses to God’s work, we do not know how far the ripples of our influence and example will extend. We do not know how deeply others may be touched as they learn from the lessons that we teach in our lives.
To advance the gospel of Christ and create a sustainable matrix of support, ASI of SePUM reorganized its officers. Positions held by leaders from the former SPUC will be replaced, while the organizational structure approved by the Southern Asia Pacific Division (SSD) will be observed as a typical pattern.
Based on the constitution and by-laws, they consistently voted for two presidents, one who will directly assume the position, and the President-Elect will observe the management and operations of the current administration and will officially take over after three years. The current officers of ASI in SePUM were Judge Jimmy Boco-President, Atty.Edsel Lim -President-Elect; VP for Evangelism- Dr. Arnulfo D. Lantaya (NDM); VP for Finance – Mr. Ryand Prostrero (SMM); VP for Logistics – Bro. Herbert Tamoni (SCMM); VP for Communication – Bro. Zozimo Chinedo (SeCM); VP for Projects – Engr. Jesher Muańa; Board at Large: Engr. Meljune Orillosa and Engr. Vicor Ballao.
As many people fainted due to fear of seismic waves and we are in the peak of Sodomite and Noah-time practices, ASI keeps luring generous modern Josephs of ARIMATHEA or like brethren in Macedonia, “for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part., for they gave according to their means. 2 Corinthians 8:1-5
As the theme song goes: “God calls for partners in the workplace to share the light of truth each day. By godly lives and humble service, draw men to Christ, the only Way.”
So, let us share Christ in the workplace. It is late. Do not delay. The Lord will soon return for His children, so we must work while it is the day.” (SePUM Communication)
