SePUM Sends Pastors for Global Outreach in Africa

In response to the call to preach the gospel globally, Pastor Rene Rosa, NDR-IEL, Vice President for Evangelism of the Southeastern Philippine Union President (SePUM), along with three mission presidents, flew to East-Central Africa to conduct preaching activities in various regions of Tanzania for the National Evangelistic Campaign from July 4th to 21st.

In an official correspondence sent by the Northern Tanzania Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists at Njiro Hill, Themi Road, Arusha, Tanzania, Executive Secretary Pr. Magulilo Mwakalonge and President, Pr. Mark W. Malekana invited Pastor Rosa and Pr. Seth S. Suan, President of Northern Davao Mission (NDM), will participate in the national evangelistic series in the northern portion of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The area includes the Mara, Northeast Tanzania, South Nyanza, and Western Tanzania Conferences, the Nyanza Gold Belt, and the Tanzania Rift Valley Fields.

Pr. Enock Ntunzwenimana, President of Burundi Union Mission, invited Pr. Reynaldo L. Merin, President of Davao Mission (DM), and Pr. Welnie Q. Miado, President of South Central Mindanao Mission (SCMM), to share the everlasting gospel in Bujumbura, Burundi, Tanzania. This territory includes the East, North, Northwest, and Southwest of Burundi, Tanzania. The United Republic of Tanzania shares its borders with Uganda to the north, Kenya to the northeast, the Comoro Islands in the Indian Ocean to the east, Mozambique and Malawi to the south, Zambia to the southwest, and Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west.

The work of the Adventist Church in Tanzania is structured under two unions: the Northern Tanzania Union Conference, headquartered in Arusha, and the Southern Tanzania Union Mission, with offices in Dar es Salaam.

The Adventist church in Germany selected two missionaries, A. C. Enns and Johannes Ehlers, to introduce the Adventist faith in East Africa in 1903. The first baptism occurred in 1908 and involved six people: Andrew Senamwaye, David Chambega Masumba, Abraham Salim Seivunde, Yohana Kajembe, Phillip Mmbaga, and Lazarus Omari. Today, the growth of the Adventist faith in East Africa is credited to God’s guidance through the influence of the Holy Spirit.

The two unions of the SDA Church in Tanzania own and operate several institutions. These include the University of Arusha, situated between the snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro on the east and Mount Meru on the west, Ufunuo Publishing House (UPH) in Morogoro, Voice of Prophecy in Morogoro, and Tanzania Adventist Media Center (TAMC) in Dar es Salaam. The media outlets associated with these institutions include Morning Star, Hope Channel Tanzania, and Adventist World Radio.

The Adventist Church in Tanzania has positively impacted the country through its education, health programs, and media presence. The church has been instrumental in building schools where there were previously none, and many influential individuals in the government have been educated at Adventist schools and are themselves Seventh-day Adventists. – SDA Encyclopedia
