SSD-wide Congress 2024 Friendship Games: SePUM Teams Win Championship
The Dribbling Ministers and 25-UNDER Categories won as Champions, while the 26-UP players won Second Place in the SSD-wide Congress 2024 Friendship Games, which were held at Mountain View College, Valencia City, on June 10-15.
Through the collective effort and unity of the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), the basketball teams were formed, each player carefully selected from the five missions of the territory: Davao Mission (DM); Northern Davao Mission (NDM); South Central Mindanao Academy (SCMM); Southeastern Caraga Mission (SCMM) and Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM). These teams, as advocates of physical fitness and proper diet, demonstrated their unity and strength in the SSD-wide Congress 2024 Friendship Games.
All the teams participated in the championship final games with the teams from the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SWPUC). Due to territorial changes, 3 missions were transferred to SePUM and 2 missions along with 3 conferences were retained from the previous South Philippine Union Conference (SPUC). Two new missions were created as part of the 3 missions, leading to the establishment of SePUM in 2024.
The 25-under Category won the championship with a final score of 104-71, while the Ministers Category also emerged as winners with a final score of 75-50.
After 12 deadlocks in the entire four quarters of the 26-Up Category Championship game, SWPUC emerged Champion with a score of 82, and SePUM dribblers as Second Placers got 73.
With the leadership of Pr Nelo Seda, Jr., SePUM Youth Director, and the substantial support from MissionFoods of the Davao Mission, alongside Pr. Danielo Palomares, Pr Edwin Magdadaro, and Sir Lawrence Lamera, SePUM President, Executive Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively; directors, staff, field workers, and delegates from the five missions gathered. Everyone proudly displayed their banners and cheered, expressing their hopes to win the trophy and foster deeper brotherhood and friendship. Teams from the 11-country territory of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) came together under the theme “Get Involved: Jesus is Coming!” to unite. (SePUM Communication)
