366 SePUM Pastors Gather in Gensan for Union-wide Bible Conference

Adventists believe there is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three coeternal Persons. God is not divided in purpose or character. The Father, Son, and Spirit act together in creation, redemption, revelation, and restoration, showing one divine love at work for the salvation of the world. This belief protects both the oneness of God and the full divinity of Christ and the Spirit. Though God is beyond complete human comprehension, He has made Himself known through Scripture and supremely through Jesus. The Trinity means that love, relationship, and self-giving are not temporary ideas God created; they belong to the very life of God Himself.

God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is not distant from the world He made. He upholds life, cares for His creatures, and works through history to accomplish His saving purpose. Scripture presents Him as just and holy, yet also merciful, gracious, patient, and abounding in faithful love. Jesus reveals the Father most clearly. In Christ, we see that the Father is not reluctant to save but is the One who sends, gives, forgives, welcomes, and restores. The powers and qualities shown in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father, inviting believers to trust His authority and rest in His care.

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Jesus is fully divine and fully human: truly God with us, and truly one with the human family He came to redeem. He lived a sinless life, taught with authority, healed the broken, carried human suffering, died for our sins, and rose victorious over death. Now He ministers in heaven on behalf of believers and will return in glory. Because of Jesus, salvation is not an abstract idea; it is God personally entering history to rescue, reconcile, and restore His children.

God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in creation, incarnation, and redemption. The Spirit inspired the writers of Scripture, filled the life of Christ with power, and continues to make the gospel effective in human hearts. He draws people to God, convicts of sin, awakens faith, and brings about the new birth. The Spirit also gives gifts to the church, empowers witness, deepens understanding of truth, and forms Christlike character in believers. His work is both personal and communal: He comforts individuals, unites the body of Christ, and equips the church to serve the world with courage, humility, and spiritual power.

Adventists believe God revealed in Scripture the true account of His creative activity. The world is not an accident or a meaningless system; it is the work of a wise, powerful, and loving Creator. In six days God made the heavens and the earth, all living things, and humanity in His image, then rested on the seventh day. Creation gives dignity to every person and meaning to the physical world. It teaches that human life is sacred, that the earth is entrusted to our care, and that worship begins with recognizing God as Maker. The Sabbath stands as a weekly memorial of creation, calling humanity to rest, gratitude, relationship, and trust in the Creator.

Human beings were created in the image of God with individuality, freedom, and the capacity to think, love, choose, and act. Humanity was made for relationship with God, with one another, and with creation. This gives every person profound worth, regardless of status, ability, background, or history. Through sin, the image of God in humanity was damaged, and human nature became subject to weakness, alienation, and death. Yet God did not abandon His children. In Christ, He offers reconciliation, healing, and restoration. Salvation includes more than pardon; it begins the renewal of God's image in people who learn again to love, trust, serve, and live in harmony with His will.

All humanity is involved in a great conflict between Christ and Satan over the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty. This conflict began in heaven through rebellion and entered human history through sin. Its effects are seen in suffering, deception, injustice, death, and the struggle between good and evil in every life. The great controversy helps Adventists understand why evil exists while still affirming that God is good. God does not win by force or manipulation, but by truth, love, and self-sacrifice. In the life, death, resurrection, and heavenly ministry of Christ, God's character is revealed and Satan's accusations are answered. The conflict will end with evil destroyed and God's love vindicated.

In the life of Christ, God provided a perfect revelation of His character and a perfect example of faithful human obedience. Jesus entered the human condition, faced temptation, served the needy, taught the truth, and lived in complete dependence on the Father. His life shows what love looks like when it moves among ordinary people. In His death and resurrection, Christ accomplished the decisive work of salvation. He bore sin, defeated the powers of evil, and opened the way for forgiveness and eternal life. His resurrection confirms God's victory over death and assures believers that the promises of the gospel are reliable. Through faith in Him, sinners are reconciled to God and given new hope.

Salvation is God's gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit awakens awareness of sin, leads people to repentance, and draws them to trust in Christ as Savior and Lord. In Christ, believers receive forgiveness, justification, adoption as God's children, and the assurance that they are accepted by Him. This experience is not merely legal or emotional; it is a new birth. God gives a new heart, a new direction, and a new life of growing obedience. The believer is freed from condemnation and invited into a daily relationship with Christ. Good works do not purchase salvation, but they become the living fruit of grace working in the heart.

Jesus has triumphed over the forces of evil, and those who belong to Him are invited to live in that victory. Growth in Christ means turning away from the old life and learning to abide in Him each day. Through prayer, Scripture, worship, fellowship, and service, believers become more deeply rooted in grace. This growth is a lifelong process. Christ frees His people from fear, destructive habits, and spiritual darkness, while the Holy Spirit forms patience, courage, purity, compassion, and love. Christian maturity is not self-improvement by human strength; it is the life of Jesus increasingly shaping the thoughts, relationships, choices, and witness of the believer.

The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is not simply an institution or a weekly gathering; it is the body of Christ, called out from the world and sent back into the world with the gospel. Christ is its head, and His Word is its authority. Believers join together for worship, instruction, fellowship, the Lord's Supper, service, and mission. The church exists to nurture faith, care for people, defend truth, and proclaim salvation in Christ. Though imperfect in its human members, the church is precious to God because it is the community through which He makes His grace visible in the world.

Adventists believe the universal church includes all who truly believe in Christ, but Scripture also describes a last-day remnant called to keep the commandments of God and hold the faith of Jesus. This remnant is not called to pride or exclusiveness, but to humble faithfulness and urgent witness. Its mission is to proclaim the everlasting gospel, announce God's judgment, call people to worship the Creator, and prepare the world for Christ's return. This message includes both warning and hope. It points people away from confusion and toward Jesus, inviting every nation, tribe, language, and people into loyalty to God and trust in His grace.

The church is one body with many members, called from every nation, culture, language, and people. Unity does not require sameness; it is created by shared life in Christ. Differences in race, nationality, gender, class, education, and social position must not become barriers that divide believers from one another. In Christ, all are equal and all are needed. The Holy Spirit gives diverse gifts, but those gifts are meant to serve one mission and one Lord. This unity becomes a witness to the world, showing that the gospel can heal hostility, overcome pride, and create a new community marked by humility, justice, mutual honor, and love.

Baptism is the public confession of faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By immersion in water, the believer testifies that the old life has been buried with Christ and that a new life has begun through His power. Baptism is therefore both a personal commitment and a visible gospel symbol. It follows instruction in Scripture, repentance, and acceptance of Jesus as Savior and Lord. Through baptism, believers are welcomed into the fellowship of the church and into participation in its mission. It does not save by itself, but it expresses the faith through which a person receives Christ and chooses to walk with Him.

The Lord's Supper is a sacred participation in the emblems of the body and blood of Jesus. Bread and cup point believers back to Christ's sacrifice and forward to His promised return. In this service, Christ meets His people, renews faith, strengthens fellowship, and reminds the church that salvation rests entirely on His grace. Adventists also practice foot washing as part of preparation for Communion. This service of humility recalls Jesus washing His disciples' feet and calls believers to repentance, reconciliation, and servant-hearted love. The Lord's Supper is open to all believing Christians who desire renewed communion with Christ and His people.

God gives spiritual gifts to every member of the church. These gifts are not badges of superiority; they are tools for service. The Holy Spirit distributes gifts so the church can be built up, people can be cared for, truth can be taught, and the gospel can be carried into the world with wisdom and power. Spiritual gifts may appear through teaching, leadership, mercy, encouragement, administration, healing, evangelism, hospitality, service, and many other ministries. Every believer has a place in the mission of God. When gifts are used in love and under the authority of Scripture, the church becomes healthier, more unified, and more effective in witness.

Prophecy is one of the spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Adventists believe this gift is one of the identifying marks of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. Her writings do not replace Scripture or stand above it; they point people back to the Bible and to Jesus Christ. The gift of prophecy provides counsel, correction, encouragement, and practical guidance for the church's spiritual life and mission. Its purpose is pastoral and Christ-centered: to help God's people understand Scripture more deeply, live faithfully, avoid deception, and keep their hope fixed on Christ and His soon return.

The great principles of God's law are embodied in the Ten Commandments and lived out in the life of Christ. God's law reveals His character of love, protects human flourishing, and defines faithful relationships with God and neighbor. It is not arbitrary restriction, but a moral expression of the Creator's wisdom. Adventists believe salvation is never earned by obedience. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. Yet grace does not make obedience meaningless; it makes obedience possible and joyful. The Holy Spirit writes God's law on the heart, so the believer's life becomes a grateful response to redemption rather than an attempt to purchase it.

The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, given by God at Creation and reaffirmed in the Ten Commandments. It is a day of rest, worship, relationship, and ministry. By keeping Sabbath, believers remember that God is Creator, Redeemer, and Lord of time. Sabbath is not merely a rule about a day; it is a gift that reorders life around trust. It frees people from endless productivity, invites families and communities into worship, and creates space for mercy and service. Jesus honored the Sabbath and showed its true meaning: a day made for human blessing, healing, and communion with God.

Stewardship means recognizing that everything belongs to God and that human beings are entrusted with His gifts. Time, abilities, possessions, influence, the body, the earth, and opportunities for service are all to be managed in faithfulness. Stewardship is worship expressed through daily choices. Adventists practice stewardship through generous living, care for creation, responsible use of resources, and support of God's mission through tithe and offerings. The purpose is not simply funding church work; it is learning to live as people who trust God more than possessions and who use every blessing to bless others.

Christian behavior is the practical outworking of belonging to Jesus. Adventists believe God calls His people to think, feel, and act in harmony with biblical principles. This includes honesty, compassion, sexual purity, modesty, justice, peacemaking, and choices that honor God in entertainment, speech, work, relationships, and public life. Because the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, Adventists also emphasize healthful living. The goal is not spiritual pride, but wholeness. By God's grace, believers seek habits that strengthen body, mind, and spirit, so their lives can better reflect Christ and serve others with clarity, kindness, and endurance.

Marriage was established by God in Eden as a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. It reflects commitment, faithfulness, mutual support, and self-giving love. Christian marriage points beyond itself to Christ's covenant love for His church. Family life is one of the primary places where faith is learned and practiced. Parents are called to nurture children in love, discipline, worship, and service. Families also need grace, forgiveness, and healing because they are made of imperfect people. The church is called to strengthen marriages, support children, care for singles, and surround every household with compassion.

Adventists believe there is a sanctuary in heaven where Christ ministers on behalf of humanity. His once-for-all sacrifice on the cross is complete and sufficient, and His heavenly ministry applies the benefits of that sacrifice to those who trust Him. Jesus is both Savior and High Priest, representing His people before the Father. This belief also includes a final phase of Christ's ministry connected with judgment and the restoration of all things. It assures believers that God deals transparently with sin, vindicates His character, and prepares the universe for the end of evil. The focus is not fear, but confidence in Christ's intercession, mercy, and justice.

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church and the grand climax of the gospel. Jesus will return personally, visibly, literally, and globally. His coming will not be secret or merely symbolic; it will bring resurrection, deliverance, judgment, and the fulfillment of God's promises. Because the exact time has not been revealed, believers are called to readiness rather than date-setting. Readiness means living in faith, love, mission, and watchfulness. The promise of Christ's return gives courage in suffering, urgency in witness, and hope that history is moving toward restoration under the reign of Jesus.

Adventists believe the wages of sin is death, but eternal life is God's gift through Christ. Death is described in Scripture as an unconscious sleep until the resurrection. This means the dead do not suffer, wander, or communicate with the living; they rest in God's keeping until His appointed time. At Christ's return, the righteous dead will be raised and the living righteous will be transformed. Together they will meet the Lord. This belief centers hope not in an immortal soul escaping the body, but in the resurrection power of Jesus, who conquered death and will awaken His people to everlasting life.

The millennium is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His saints in heaven between the resurrection of the righteous and the final resurrection of the wicked. During this time, the redeemed participate in reviewing God's judgments, seeing that His decisions have been just, merciful, and true. At the close of the millennium, Christ, His people, and the Holy City descend. The wicked are raised, Satan's rebellion reaches its final exposure, and sin is destroyed forever. This belief shows that evil will not continue endlessly. God will cleanse the earth, end the great controversy, and secure a universe where rebellion will never rise again.

The new earth is God's promised home for the redeemed, a restored creation where righteousness dwells. God will wipe away every tear, and death, sorrow, crying, and pain will be no more. The damage caused by sin will be healed, and the world will finally reflect the Creator's original purpose. Life in the new earth will be full, embodied, relational, joyful, and endlessly meaningful. The redeemed will live in God's presence, continue to learn, worship, create, serve, and grow in love. The great controversy will be over, God's character will be vindicated, and all creation will rejoice in everlasting peace.
