Reliant upon and showcasing God's marvelous grace and mercies, Adventist Hospital Davao (AHD) of Bangkal, Davao City celebrates its 38th Founding Anniversary at AHD Gym on June 2.
The opening salvo, the healing devotional message from Pr. Edwin Magdadaro, Executive Secretary of Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), put special emphasis on the word compassion, which at all cost should denote as "love in action". The venue was flocked by hundreds of people by people ready to be served by the free services offered during the day. A total of 675 individuals benefited from the services, which included: medical consultations with 93 clients; pap smear screening (49); circumcision (131); tooth extraction: (120) plus 30 clients scheduled for free clinic appointments, ophthalmology services (104); therapeutic massage (85) and free haircuts (63).
Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, Director, 1105th Community Defense Center (CDC), under the 11th Regional Community Defense Group (11RCDG), Reserve Command (RESCOM), Philippine Army, sent some of his men to assist in crowd control and even in providing free haircut.
One client named Mr. Irvin Digal, quipped: ““I’m deeply grateful for the services my children received today. Though we are not Adventists, we were welcomed with warmth and generosity. The free medical assistance was a blessing to our family, and beyond that, they even offered employment to my wife—empowering us to build a more decent and dignified life. We truly felt the spirit of service that knows no boundaries. Thank you for embracing everyone with kindness, regardless of faith.”
Adventist Hospital Davao has long been a trusted center of Christ-centered healing, offering a full range of services from general medicine and surgery to specialized care in cardiology, neurology, OB-GYN, pediatrics, dermatology, dentistry, ophthalmology, and more. With advanced imaging, emergency care, rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine, and mental health services, the hospital nurtures not just physical well-being but holistic restoration. Its expert doctors and compassionate staff deliver care that integrates clinical excellence with spiritual support—counseling the body, mind, and soul—making every visit a reflection of its enduring mission to heal and serve.
A new chapter of innovation is unfolding in the region as Adventist Hospital Davao launches a major expansion of its facilities to elevate healthcare delivery and respond to the community’s growing needs.
This renewed commitment marks a milestone in patient care and community outreach using Libre Konsulta Package of Philhealth as a tool to reach more people to feel the love of Jesus through the health ministry.
At the core of these enhancements is a high-capacity, state-of-the-art generator that ensures uninterrupted power supply during outages—safeguarding critical operations and the well-being of every patient.
Another highlight is the acquisition of a modern CT scanner featuring advanced capabilities that boost diagnostic precision and efficiency. This 192-slice CT scanner represents a major leap in diagnostic imaging. This cutting-edge machine delivers ultra-fast, high-resolution scans with exceptional clarity—enabling more accurate detection of cardiovascular conditions, neurological disorders, and internal injuries. Its advanced technology reduces scan time, minimizes radiation exposure, and enhances patient comfort, making it ideal for both routine and emergency diagnostics. In a generous act of service, the hospital’s previously used but fully operational CT scanner was donated to Adventist Hospital Calbayog, extending its impact to a broader patient base.
The expansion also includes newly installed histopathology laboratory equipment to strengthen diagnostic services. Additional key upgrades feature non-corrosive oxygen tanks for improved respiratory support, an Endoscopy CV-190 system for enhanced video processing in endoscopic procedures, and the construction of dedicated isolation rooms for infection control. To further support its mission, the hospital also unveiled new staff housing—providing a comfortable environment for its healthcare professionals and reinforcing its commitment to both service excellence and employee well-being plus the completion of a gymnasium named as Life Hope Center with multi-faceted functions for everybody.
Ellen G White on his book Ministry of Health and Healing advices, “We need to come close to the people by personal effort. If we would give less time to sermonizing and more time to personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those who weep and to rejoice with those who rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer, the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit.” MHH 73.5
