A little over 80 radio broadcasters from six Adventist radio stations across the South Central Mindanao Mission (SCMM) convened for the first phase of the Radio Broadcasters’ Conference and Certification Program on March 22 at the Kidapawan Central Adventist Church.
The one-day gathering brought together broadcasters, communication leaders, and media workers in a unified effort to strengthen Adventist broadcasting as a tool for evangelism and mission.
Organized under the leadership of the SCMM Communication Department, the conference served not only as a training platform but also as a certification initiative, equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills in broadcasting, digital mission, and ethical communication.
Strengthening the Mission Through Media
Participants participated in a series of seminars and workshops designed to deepen both their technical competence and their spiritual understanding of media ministry.
Pr. Jeter Canoy, AWR Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) Coordinator, emphasized the divine calling behind broadcasting in his presentation on “AWR Mission and Biblical Foundation.” He reminded participants that radio ministry remains a powerful instrument in reaching communities with the message of hope.

Pr. Jeter Canoy, AWR Director for SSD with Pr. Welnie Miado, SCMM president.
Rhoen Peralta Catolico, Communication Director of the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM), led a session on Adventist Radio Broadcast Guidelines and Ethics, highlighting the sacred responsibility of Adventist communicators to uphold integrity, truth, and mission-centered content across all platforms while remaining faithful to the church’s mission and identity.
“We are here because not all of us are professionals in radio broadcasting. This is why this initiative will start professionalizing us all, with the help of AWR, the media ministry of this church, and even KBP,” Catolico emphasized. “We need to work hand in hand to point them to Jesus Christ and never to us as broadcasters!”

Ivan Mae Flores, SePUM Media Studio Supervisor, presented an intermediate-level workshop on Social Media and Digital Evangelism, encouraging broadcasters to expand their reach through digital platforms.
Technical insights were also shared by Juris Bong Lagra, SCMM Technical Assistant, focusing on operational excellence and the importance of maintaining quality in broadcast production.
A Call to Commitment
The conference culminated in a commitment service led by SCMM President Pr. Welnie Miado where participants were invited to reaffirm their dedication as media missionaries.

In his message, Miado underscored the vital role of broadcasters in proclaiming the gospel, urging them to remain faithful and intentional in their ministry.
Meanwhile, SCMM Treasurer Nilo Cabantingan provided guidance on broadcast operations, reinforcing the importance of stewardship and sustainability in running mission-centered radio ministries.

Empowering Broadcasters for Greater Impact
The event was facilitated by June Clyde Murillo, SCMM Communication Director, whose leadership helped bring together broadcasters from across the territory for a shared purpose.

The conference highlighted the growing role of radio broadcast and digital media in advancing the church’s mission, particularly in reaching diverse and remote audiences.
As participants returned to their respective stations, they carried with them renewed passion, strengthened skills, and a deeper sense of calling—to use every broadcast as a channel of hope and a voice for Christ.
