Southeastern Caraga Adventist Educators Train for Classroom Challenges

plementation, and Ma’am Fe Taguno Maloloy-on, Public School Principal III, shared their expertise in enhancing teaching methodologies aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum. Their topics included “The General Structure of the Matatag Curriculum & Instructional Design” and “21st Century Skills in the Matatag Curriculum.” They also discussed “Integrating 21st Century Skills in Classroom-Based Assessment.”

Mercader, the education department’s director, shared insights on the “Grading System and the Importance of Adventist Education.” At the same time, Mr. Edgardo Torniado, the SCM Treasurer, interacted with teachers regarding financial administration and the benefits of the education sector from the government and the denomination or lay-led affiliated schools they serve selflessly.

Dr. Perlyn Panes is the Education Director of the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission. She leads the education department within the five regional headquarters in the southern half of Mindanao. Dr. Panes inspires every instructor to believe that the Greatest Teacher should be the source of all instruction. She emphasizes that molding tender minds is a delicate task that requires Christ-centered thoughts and compassion.

Dr. Bienvenido G. Mergal, the Education Director of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, which serves as the headquarters for Seventh-day Adventists in eleven countries, delivered presentations on four topics: “Conflict Management: Educating for Reconciliation and Forgiveness,” “Adventist Education: Its Value and Lasting Benefits,” “Teach Like Jesus: Attitude, Commitment,” and “Teaching Methods of a Teacher.” He also shared additional inspiring insights during the Commitment Message.

This important upgrading activity involves New Mount Olives SDA Elementary School, San Francisco Adventist Elementary School, Bayugan Adventist Learning Center, Mount Olive Laymen’s Academy, Barobo Adventist Learning Center, Mangagoy SDA Elementary School, Prosperidad Adventist Learning Center, New Galilea SDA Elementary School, Dalton View College, and the host school, Forest Hills Academy.

With a deep understanding of the pivotal role of teachers in shaping young minds, Mrs. Ellen G. White, a spirit-driven Adventist writer, emphasized the importance of the teacher’s connection with God. She said: “Every teacher who has to do with the education of young students should remember that children are affected by the atmosphere that surrounds the teacher, whether it be pleasant or unpleasant. If the teacher is connected with God, if Christ abides in his heart, the spirit that is cherished by him will be felt by the children. If teachers enter the schoolroom with a provoked, irritated spirit, the atmosphere surrounding their souls will also leave its impression.” Counsels to Teachers, 191.1.

As we conclude, we hope and pray that more parents will advocate for Adventist education. By preparing young minds to share the mission that Jesus is coming soon, we are paving the way for them to receive the robe of righteousness and the crown of glory in heaven, prepared by God for His faithful believers.
