DSM Advisories Gain Momentum Across Southeastern Philippines

The Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM) Communication Department continues to strengthen its Digital Strategy for Mission (DSM) initiative as communication leaders across its territory actively equip local churches for mission in the digital age.

The Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM) and South Central Mindanao Mission (SCMM) conducted their mission-wide DSM Advisories virtually via Zoom on July 22–23 and July 23–24, respectively. The online sessions brought together pastors, communication leaders, media volunteers, and local church representatives to strengthen mission-focused digital communication in preparation for OneVoice27, the worldwide evangelistic initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Meanwhile, the Southeastern Caraga Mission (SCM) implemented the advisory through clusterized onsite trainings, enabling communicators from neighboring districts to receive personalized instructions and action planning within their respective areas. Likewise, the Northern Davao Mission (NDM) officially kicked-off the cluster training series on July 16–18 in Cateel, Davao Oriental, marking the first of several onsite training clusters scheduled throughout the mission territory.

These localized trainings were made possible through the dedicated communication leadership of Pr. Regie Mahinay (Northern Davao Mission), Pr. Jesreel Mercader (Southeastern Caraga Mission), Pr. Elmer Romano (Southern Mindanao Mission), and Mr. June Clude Murillo (South Central Mindanao Mission), together with their respective ACT teams. Their coordinated efforts have been instrumental in ensuring that each mission field receives contextualized and effective communication training in preparation for the upcoming Discover Your Way with God (Season 2) evangelistic series and the global launch of OneVoice27.

The combination of mission-wide virtual advisories and localized cluster trainings reflects SePUM's commitment to making communication training accessible, contextual, and mission-driven. By equipping pastors, communication leaders, media teams, and volunteers, the initiative continues to build a stronger network of communicators prepared to proclaim the everlasting gospel through today's digital platforms.

The DSM Advisory emphasizes biblical communication, strategic storytelling, branding, social media ministry, digital evangelism, and the responsible use of emerging technologies. Anchored on the AVID framework—Audible, Visible, Intentional, and Digital—the initiative encourages every local church to embrace communication as an essential ministry for evangelism and discipleship.

"The clusterized meetings make the trainings more meaningful and personal because they bring our programs closer to our church members," said Rhoen Peralta Catolico, Communication and Media Director of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission. "At the same time, our virtual trainings challenge us to plunge into the digital waters and assess how prepared we are to use—and knock on—the digital front doors where people are already searching, connecting, and engaging every day."

Catolico added, "We look forward to more clusterized meetings in the coming weeks as we prepare for the Discover Your Way with God evangelistic series on August 29-September 12 and the launch of OneVoice27 on September 5."

As SePUM advances toward OneVoice27, these coordinated training initiatives continue to build momentum in raising communicators for mission, empowering local churches to share the hope of Jesus Christ with greater unity, purpose, and digital engagement. Davao Mission, Adventist Hospital Davao, and South Philippine Adventist College are also gearing up to join this union-wide, synergized preparation, further strengthening SePUM's commitment to advancing communication for mission across every field and institution.
