Freely Given, Boldly Sharing: SePUM’s “DISCOVER YOUR WAY WITH GOD” Online Series Unfolds

More than two hundred forty Zoom participants joined the online meeting called for all Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SePUM) administrators, directors, and field workers on August 5 to address important agenda items that will contribute to the growth of the territory, which comprises five missions, one college institution, and one hospital.

Presented firsthand were the baptism statistics from January to July 2025, with the following data: Davao Mission (DM) – 5,759; Northern Davao Mission (NDM) – 4,709; South Central Mindanao Mission (SCMM) – 3,374; Southeastern Caraga Mission (SeCM) – 9,553; and Southern Mindanao Mission (SMM) – 5,171, totaling 28,566 precious souls.

Pastor Danielo Palomares opened the session with a question from King David: “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” (Psalm 116:12). This verse expresses the psalmist's gratitude for God's blessings and his desire to offer something in return. As an answer, Matthew 10:8 provides a vivid response: “Freely you have received, freely give,” emphasizing the principle of grace and generosity in ministry. It encourages believers to share the blessings and gifts they have received without expecting payment or reward, mirroring the free gift of salvation they have received.

He stressed the belief that evangelism is the lifestyle and culture of the church and must continue even in the deficiency of funds but “we take care of things that remain. If one closes a door, God opens another entry point.” This reminder followed the announcement that the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) will no longer supplement the funds it previously provided to churches during the church-based Harvest 2025 evangelistic meetings held last April to May.

To inspire everyone amidst the prevailing situation, Sir Laurence Lamera, SePUM Treasurer, shared 2 Timothy 4:5: “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” Despite the challenges, there was a burst of consolation when it was confirmed that SePUM administrators will still provide substantial funds for each mission to be distributed among churches which will air the coverage in homes, churches, gymnasiums or any place they find conducive and accessible. Union directors will also be given the opportunity to preach in any mission, with each mission selecting two venues.

Sir Rhoen Shane Peralta Catolico, Communication, Media, Public Relations, and Religious Liberty Director of SePUM, explained the telecast setup for the upcoming series. It will be aired LIVE!!! from various locations and transmitted via GSAT Channel 37 and digital platforms such as the Facebook page of the Seventh-day Adventist Church–Southeastern Philippines and the YouTube account of Adventist Media–Southeastern Philippines. It will also be cross-posted by all media partners, including radio stations within the territory and even gaining the push of its supportive mother union, the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC).

Prior to each nightly broadcast, which will include beautiful songs and segments with a quiz show, there will be a prelude program titled “THE CONVERSATION” from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., serving as a review and discussion of the previous topic. This segment will be hosted by Pastor Louwayne Van Magdadaro, Church Pastor of Davao Filipino-Chinese Seventh-day Adventist Church.

This DYWWG Series will provide opportunities for all missions and institutions to showcase the skills and talents of their media teams and equipment with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It will also allow more singers, instrumentalists, hosts, and other key contributors to participate for its success.

Before the series begins, all churches have received the Discovery Voice of Prophecy lessons, printed by SePUM in Cebuano and English versions. These were distributed to the target audience and interested students, who will complete the lessons for spiritual growth and possibly win prizes during the scheduled graduation day. Pastor Rene Rosa, SePUM Vice President for Evangelism, NDR-IEL, vividly explained each detail. Meanwhile, Elder Lamera reminded everyone to take care of each page of the lesson guides, as they may be used in future evangelistic efforts.

This historic edition of the series will be hosted by Ma’am Ivan Mae Acob-Flores, Executive Producer of SePUM Media Center, alongside various co-hosts from each mission and institution. Each episode will be featured with segment hosts who will incorporate inspiring contents into the program.

While Matthew 24:14 states: "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come…" Mrs. Ellen G. White, the Spirit-filled inspiration of this remnant church wrote in consonance with the verse, which goes: “Let every worker in the Master's vineyard, study, plan, devise methods, to reach the people where they are. We must do something out of the common course of things. We must arrest the attention. We must be deadly in earnest. We are on the very verge of times of trouble and perplexities that are scarcely dreamed of."Letter 20, 1893. Evangelism 122.4
